The Member of Parliament for Agona East in the Central Region, Hon. Queenstar Maame Pokua Sawyerr, has stated that the Mahama administration is on track to complete all legacy projects in her constituency, which were initiated by the previous New Patriotic Party government, by the fourth quarter of the four-year mandate allotted to the administration.
She indicated that all unfinished school buildings, roads, and electrification projects within the community are of utmost priority, with her expectation being that these projects will be completed by the fourth quarter of the mandate period.
“President Mahama has instructed us to assess all legacy projects, and we have accomplished that. He desires that by the fourth quarter, all of these legacy projects are finalized, and we are committed to making this a reality,” she remarked.
Hon. Pokua Sawyerr, who was recently recognized as the most productive among all 23 MPs in the Central Region, made these comments while engaging with traditional leaders in her constituency during her first official tour of the new year to gather constituents’ feedback for development planning.
The three-day tour encompassed 18 traditional areas within the constituency, which consists of over 400 villages. Accompanied by a group of NDC Party officials from the constituency and the District Chief Executive for Agona East District, Hon. Samuel Oscar Mensah, Hon. Pokua Sawyerr made visits to the Palace of Nana Okeseku Afari Mintah III, the Paramount Chief of Agona Nsabaah, the palace of the chief of Agona Duakwa, and the Agona Ninta chief’s palace.
The legacy projects inherited from the Akufo-Addo administration primarily include unfinished hospital projects under the previous government’s Agenda 111 initiative, school buildings, roads, and rural electrification.
Included among these are the Michelle junction to Duakwa road; Kwanyaako to Akotsi road; and the main Agona Swedru to Akroso road.
Hon. Pokua Sawyerr articulated that while the government has acknowledged and is prioritizing legacy projects, it is crucial for the constituents to be involved to ensure that the infrastructural initiatives do not ultimately become mere fanciful endeavors lacking serious priority.
In this context, she elaborated that the tour was also intended to allow her and her team to gather insights regarding the constituents’ concerns, thereby ensuring that development planning is inclusive.
Upon warmly welcoming the MP, all the chiefs conveyed their satisfaction with the inclusion of both chiefs’ and constituents’ perspectives in the government’s development planning.
Nana Okeseku Afari Mintah III commended the Member of Parliament for her efforts in enhancing the roads in Nsabaah town, establishing a Fire Service post, creating a Court, and offering regular employment opportunities for the youth.
He additionally urged the MP to hasten the completion of the well-known Agenda 111 project and the primary road connecting Nsabaah to Oda, as well as the adjacent areas, to elevate the living and economic conditions of his constituents.
He also appealed to the MP for the swift finalization of the famous Agenda 111 project and the main road from Nsabaah to Oda, along with the surrounding regions, to improve the living standards and economic well-being of his people.

They seized the opportunity to request additional developmental projects, including a plea for the completion of a social center at Nsabaa, the finalization of Agenda 111 hospitals, and job opportunities for the local youth.
Additionally, during the visits, the MP presented bags of rice and bottles of oil, along with monetary gifts to the chiefs and constituents as Christmas offerings.
Hon. Pokua Sawyerr also took this opportunity to advocate for a reduction in excessive politicization within the constituency, emphasizing that those who are conspiring to have her removed as MP are merely wasting their time, as such an outcome is unlikely to occur.
