Nurses, Allied Health Workers Get Final Reporting Extension

Date:

The Ministry of Health has extended the deadline for nurses and allied health professionals recently posted to various districts to report to their assigned facilities to August 31, 2026.
The Ministry said the extension constitutes the final notice to all affected professionals and urged those who have not yet reported to take immediate steps to assume duty within the stipulated period. https://environmentalguidenews.com/wp-admin
According to the Ministry, professionals who applied, successfully completed the required interviews and screening, accepted their postings and reported to their assigned facilities are already undergoing the necessary processes for mechanisation, with some having commenced receiving their salaries.
The Ministry, in a statement issued by its Spokesperson, Tony Goodman, on August 24, 2026, also clarified the recruitment, posting and salary payment processes amid what it described as misleading information circulating about the exercise.
It explained that the process begins when the Ministry of Health receives financial clearance from the Ministry of Finance, after which the recruitment portal is opened for eligible applicants.
Applicants then apply for posting to their preferred districts and undergo interviews in their respective districts. Successful candidates accept their postings and report to their assigned facilities.

The facilities subsequently confirm their assumption of duty and submit the necessary documentation to the Ghana Health Service, Christian Health Association of Ghana and other relevant agencies.
An appointment letter is then generated by the appropriate agency to enable the professional to complete the processes required for salary input. Once the salary input process is completed, the facility validates the worker’s salary, paving the way for payment by the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department.
The Ministry stressed that every recruited health professional must go through these processes before salary payment can be effected, explaining that the procedures are necessary to ensure that only legitimate workers are paid and to prevent payments for work not done or the creation of ghost names.
The Ministry has consequently directed all Human Resource Directors and relevant officers to expedite the processes required to capture and process eligible professionals who have already assumed duty for salary payment.
Directors and Managers have also been instructed to use the September data-entry window to mechanise all professionals who have reported for duty.
The Ministry warned that professionals who fail to report by August 31, 2026, without an approved and justifiable reason, will have their names removed from the recruitment and posting system.
Such vacancies, it said, will subsequently be filled through a mop-up exercise scheduled for the first week of September 2026.
The Ministry therefore urged all affected nurses and allied health professionals to treat the extension as a final opportunity and report to their assigned facilities within the deadline to avoid losing their postings.
