Naturopath Kwame Okrah and Naturopath Cindy Boakye Emerge as Top Performers in India Clinical Training

Ghanaian practitioners recognised for excellence in Naturopathy, Ayurveda and Yoga

Kalaburagi, India — Naturopath Kwame Okrah and Naturopath Cindy Boakye have emerged as the top performers in an intensive semester clinical training programme in Naturopathy, Ayurveda and Yoga in India.

The two Ghanaian practitioners received special honours during the closing ceremony after distinguishing themselves through strong clinical performance, discipline, practical competence, professionalism and commitment to learning.

The programme was jointly organised by Nyarkotey College of Holistic Medicine, Ghana, and Arujiva Ayurveda and Naturopathy Hospital, India, under a Memorandum of Understanding between the two institutions.

Excellence in an Intensive Clinical Programme

Okrah and Boakye were part of a pioneering cohort of 16 Ghanaian naturopathic practitioners who travelled to India for a structured semester of clinical education and assessment. The programme combined theoretical instruction, hands-on clinical practice, patient observation and professional evaluation.

Participants received exposure to Naturopathy, Ayurveda, Yoga, nutrition, lifestyle interventions and integrative patient care. Their training covered clinical assessment, case-taking, naturopathic therapeutic procedures, Ayurvedic principles and practices, yoga techniques and approaches to lifestyle-related health conditions.

The clinical immersion also included practical exposure to hydrotherapy, mud therapy, massage, fasting therapy, nutrition, colon hydrotherapy,  laboratory procedures and other natural and integrative healthcare approaches.

Against this demanding background, Okrah and Boakye demonstrated consistency and competence, earning them recognition as the programme’s leading performers.

Recognition Beyond Participation

Their achievement highlights the programme’s emphasis on competence rather than mere attendance. The practitioners were expected to participate actively, demonstrate practical skills, maintain professional discipline and complete clinical assessments.

The awards therefore recognised not only academic understanding but also the ability to translate knowledge into responsible clinical practice. Their performance provides an example for other practitioners seeking to strengthen their professional knowledge through international clinical exposure.

For Nyarkotey College, the recognition of its practitioners also reflects the value of combining Ghanaian naturopathic education with supervised international clinical experience.

Role Models for Emerging Practitioners

The accomplishments of Okrah and Boakye demonstrate what can be achieved through discipline, humility, consistent study and commitment to professional development.

As recipients of the top-performance honours, they are expected to use their knowledge and practical competencies to improve patient care, support public education and contribute to the advancement of Naturopathy in Ghana.

Their success also places a responsibility on them to uphold ethical practice, promote evidence-informed healthcare and share appropriate lessons from their Indian clinical experience with colleagues and future trainees.

Their achievement is not only personal. It represents another important step in the development of a competent, credible and culturally relevant African Naturopathy system.

Celebrating Two Ghanaian Achievers

Naturopath Kwame Okrah and Naturopath Cindy Boakye now return from India with international clinical exposure and the distinction of being the leading performers in their cohort.

Their recognition is a proud moment for Nyarkotey College of Holistic Medicine, their colleagues, families and the wider naturopathic profession in Ghana.

As Ghana continues to strengthen naturopathic education and clinical practice, their achievement stands as evidence that African practitioners can excel in demanding international training environments.

Okrah and Boakye have not only made their institution proud; they have also become role models for the next generation of African naturopathic practitioners.
