The Government, through the Ministry of Education, has announced plans to construct emergency infrastructure for two senior high schools affected by recent fire outbreaks.
Under the intervention, new girls’ dormitories will be constructed at the Northern School of Business (NOBISCO), while a 12-unit classroom block will be built for Labone Senior High School.
The decision follows devastating fire incidents at the two schools, which displaced students in the Northern Region and the Greater Accra Region and disrupted academic activities. The Government says the swift response is aimed at restoring safe and conducive learning environments while ensuring the continuity of teaching and learning.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Ministry of Education assured students, parents, school authorities, and the general public that all necessary steps are being taken to fast-track the reconstruction works.
The Ministry further noted that measures will be put in place to improve safety standards in schools to prevent future incidents.
Government reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the welfare of learners and strengthening educational infrastructure nationwide, particularly during emergencies.
The statement was signed by Hashmin Mohammed, Press Secretary to the Honourable Minister for Education.
