The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has issued a stern compliance notice to all licensed gold buyers, warning that failure to meet mandatory reporting obligations could result in licence revocation and prosecution.
In Compliance Notice No. GOLDBOD/2026/04, the Board revealed that some gold buying licensees have failed to adhere to reporting requirements outlined in the terms and conditions of their licences.
GoldBod reminded all licensees that they are required to prepare and submit detailed monthly transaction reports capturing their daily gold purchases. The reports must include information on quantity, purity, value, and other related activities undertaken within the reporting period.
According to the directive, these monthly transaction reports must be submitted within 15 days after the end of each month. Consequently, licensees were expected to file their January 2026 reports by February 15, 2026.
The Board cautioned that non-compliance constitutes a breach of licence conditions and may lead to revocation. It further stressed that failure to comply is an offence under Section 63 of the Ghana Gold Board Act, 2025.
GoldBod reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing laws governing the gold trading sector, emphasizing accountability, transparency, and strict regulatory oversight to safeguard the integrity of Ghana’s gold industry.
The Compliance Directorate of the Board signed the notice.
