Axle Load Officials Fear Rising Attacks

Date:

Officials stationed at axle load weighing centres across the country have raised serious concerns over the activities of a group allegedly posing as operatives of the National Security Secretariat and attacking personnel at designated checkpoints. https://environmentalguidenews.com/wp-admin
According to information gathered by Modern Africa, the group has been operating mainly around the Tema Beach Road and Motorway axle weighing stations, where they reportedly harass workers and disrupt operations at the facilities.
The individuals are said to conceal their identities by masking their faces while claiming to be acting on behalf of National Security during their operations.
Sources disclosed that the activities of the group have created fear and panic among officials working at the axle load centres, with some workers allegedly fleeing for safety due to the persistent intimidation and threats.
The axle weighing stations play a critical role in monitoring overloaded vehicles and enforcing road safety regulations aimed at protecting highways and other state infrastructure from damage.

Officials say the situation is negatively affecting operations and could undermine efforts to safeguard state revenue and ensure compliance within the transport sector.
They are therefore calling on the relevant authorities to urgently intervene and investigate the activities of the group allegedly using the name of the National Security Secretariat to carry out unlawful acts.
“With reported cases of such disturbing lawlessness involving groups purporting to be working on behalf of the National Security Secretariat, we respectfully call on authorities to crack the whip on miscreants dragging the name of the Secretariat into disrepute,” the officials appealed.
