The items presented to the assembly included 30 wheelbarrows, 10 pairs of boots, 100 gloves, 200 brooms, and 30 shovels.

The Secretary of the Association, Mr Okoe Baddoo, who led the presentation, said the gesture formed part of the Association’s contribution towards the Assembly’s sanitation improvement drive.

He said members of the Association recognised the critical role sanitation tools played in keeping the city clean, particularly at a time when the AMA was intensifying efforts to improve public cleanliness, waste management, and environmental health.

Receiving the items, the Mayor of Accra,Hon. Michael Kpakpo Allotey expressed appreciation to the Association for the donation and commended its members for demonstrating commitment to the growth and development of the city.

He said the gesture reflected the spirit of collective responsibility needed to transform Accra, adding that one person could not change the city alone.

The Mayor said the transformation of Accra required the active participation of residents, especially the Ga people, with support from visitors and other stakeholders who lived and worked in the capital.

He said anyone who belonged to Accra but engaged in activities that destroyed the city was only harming their own future, stressing that while visitors could leave during difficult times, the indigenous people and residents of Accra would remain to face the consequences.

The Mayor said the Assembly was grateful to AKWOA for the support, noting that although some progress had been made in improving sanitation, there was still much work to be done.

He said the AMA was working hard to achieve visible results and would continue to require more tools, logistics and resources as it intensified its daily sanitation operations and underscored the importance of revenue mobilisation in sustaining sanitation services in the city.

He therefore urged stakeholders, businesses, and residents to support the Assembly’s revenue mobilisation efforts, explaining that a portion of such revenue would help strengthen sanitation operations across the metropolis.

He called on other groups, institutions, and individuals to emulate the example of AKWOA by contributing resources, logistics, and support towards the development of Accra.
