The Wettey and Donkor families have expressed deep gratitude to the public for the outpouring of support following the tragic death of their sons in a microlight aircraft crash at Tema Community 1.
In a press statement issued on March 21, 2026, the families announced the passing of Captain Frank Amoanyi Donkor and Elijah Ofori Donkor, who lost their lives in the March 16 incident that has left relatives and loved ones in profound grief.
Describing the loss as devastating, the families said the two young men were “bright lights” whose lives were full of promise, warmth, and purpose.
“Their sudden departure is one we are still struggling to come to terms with,” the statement noted, adding that the families are drawing strength from their Christian faith in this difficult period.
The statement also commended key state institutions, including the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, the Ghana National Fire Service, and the Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation and Prevention Bureau, for their swift response and professionalism during the emergency.
According to the families, the efforts of these agencies provided critical support in the immediate aftermath of the crash.
Amid their grief, the families have appealed to the public and the media to respect their privacy as they mourn their loss.
“This is an extremely difficult time for us, and we deeply appreciate your understanding,” the statement emphasized.
They further expressed appreciation for the prayers, condolences, and solidarity shown so far, indicating that details of funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.
